CHRISTOPHER BAILEY, Phoebe Philo and Roland Mouret have been nominated for the British Designer of the Year award. The three designers, none of whom have taken the title before, will find out who has won at an exclusive dinner in the Victoria & Albert Museum on November 2. Giles Deacon, Alice Temperley and Jonathan Saunders are up for the New Designer of the Year award while Bailey, Margaret Howell and last year's Designer of the Year, Alexander McQueen, will fight it out for the Menswear gong. In a fantastic coup for NET-A-PORTER.COM, the stylish e-tailer is up against Matthew Williamson and Asprey for Best Shop, while Agent Provocateur, Stephen Jones and Mulberry have been nominated for Best Accessory Designer. The final two categories will see either Lily Cole, Will Chalker or Eugenia Volodina named Model of the Year and Nick Knight, Pat McGrath or Charlotte Stockdale the year's best Fashion Creator. "I'd like to thank the members of the BFC Press Committee for the time and effort they put into compiling an inspired list of exceptional nominees," said BFC chairman Stuart Rose. "The list reflects the international influence and importance of British fashion design and creativity, as well as our strength and depth in retail and new design talent." The list of nominees was drawn up by a committee chaired by Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman and the winners will be decided by a panel of judges comprising leading industry figures who will meet in late October.
