Creepy Halloween!
This year our Halloween was a bit different from the previous ones!
During our Halloween celebration we watched some ‘scary’ movies like: ‘The
Others’, ‘Scooby-Doo’ and ‘Signs’.
In addition, being aware of ‘a kind of’ movement against the Halloween
celebration in Brazil broadcasted by a lot of media (TV, newspaper, radio and so
on) as being an American holiday, we decided to talk a bit about its real
history which, by the way, is not AMERICAN AT ALL!!!
Although it is extensively celebrated in the US, we talked about many other
countries which also celebrate it; such as Mexico, Japan, South Africa,
Portugal, and France among others.

We must agree that Halloween is taken as an American celebration (because of the
movies) and maybe that’s why almost all the language schools celebrate it!
What we know is that the students ask for and count with this celebration since
the beginning of the year. It’s a time to have fun and get a bit closer to
them, too! We must admit that it’s very pleasurable to see our students’
faces when they are given candies and lollipops. Not to say the special bright
of their eyes when we share spooky stories and legends…

Our Halloween was really nice! :-)
